Description
Cargo steam ship “Agios Markos” ( length of 376 feet ) loaded with 5389 tones of barley and other things of the Argentinian Red Cross, coming from Buenos Aires, had sailed in Piraeus on 21 April 1941 with Spyros Kallimanis as a captain. After sailing, the ship was performing routes off the port, waiting for an entrance command. During afternoon, German airplanes made a lot of air raids and as a result the ship sank at Kaki Vigla at Salamina. Due to the bombing, the 28-year-old sailor Thomas Ferentinos from Ithaka was killed.
